Israel Lions Commissioner between 2008-2009

Marcel Friedman, Doctor of Chemistry, was born in Bucharest in 1946. Immigrated to Israel in 1964.
Married to Edna and together they are parents of two daughters and grandparents to one granddaughter. He served as vice president of the company
“Neka”, published articles and patents and integrates into comprehensive industrial and academic activities.
For many years he has served as the chairman of the committee for soap and detergents at the Israeli Standards Institute
and chairman of the section for cleaning materials in the Association of Manufacturers.
The Friedman family was exposed to the activities of the Lions organization, at a party they were invited to at his home
of the late Avi Oren, a member of the Reot Club in Petah Tikva. The couple later decided in 1989
To establish, together with their friends, the Lions Club in Hod Hasharon, much thanks to her activity
by Edna Friedman.
Over the years Marcel held various positions in the club: treasurer, auditor, spokesman and chairman
various committees. In 1998 he presented the flagship project to the European Forum in Budapest
of the club “The center for lending medical auxiliary equipment”. thereby putting the club on the map
European, for the glory of Lions Israel. In 2000-2001 he served as the president of the club
and continued to establish the achievements of the outstanding club and move it forward.
In combination with his activities at the Hod Hasharon Club, Marcel also worked at the Israel Lions Commission
And between the years 1999-2004 he served as the chairman of the committee for international relations.
In this role, the following special achievements should be noted:
– Acceptance of Israel Lions to the conference of the countries of the Mediterranean basin, alongside countries
North Africa and the Middle East. A decision on this was made at the forum in Antalya in 1999.
– Giving a special award on behalf of Lions Israel at the Europe Forum in Florence
of the CARRIERE DELA JERA newspaper in recognition of Prof. Berlinger, the Italian Minister of Education
For choosing the photo of the boy with his hands up from the Warsaw Ghetto as the photo of the century.
– Discussion in a forum in Portugal regarding the establishment of the Lions Israel College
In the course of “mediation, conciliation and arbitration”.
– Discussion at the Mediterranean Basin Conference in Dubrovnik, on the issue of environmental quality
With a guest lecturer from KKL-Junk. As part of the conference, Marcel Friedman organized a poster exhibition
the peace of the participating countries.
– For these activities, Marcel received a certificate of appreciation from the international president.
In 2004, Marcel was elected to the Israel Lions Cabinet, and served, among other things, as Deputy Commissioner,
As a regional chairman, and as a commission coordinator on the CSF2 issue of the international prevention campaign
Blindness and restoration of sight. As part of this project, all the members of the Lions in the world were mobilized
for a special fundraiser that approached 200 million dollars. 46 thousand dollars were donated to Israel Lions.
Marcel Friedman was awarded, as the project’s chairman, a certificate of appreciation from the international president.
In 2008, Marcel Friedman was elected commissioner of Lions Israel.
His activity as commissioner:
– In cooperation with KKL-Junk and the Jewish Agency, a camp for 250 was operated in Nes Harim
Israeli teenagers from families in need. while placing emphasis on imparting social values
Educational such as: quality and knowledge of the environment, volunteering, etc.
– Building and adapting a code of ethics for Lions Israel.
– LIONS QUEST educational project for ages 10-18 in collaboration with the International Lions.
– Strengthening the relationship between the Commission and the clubs and between the regional clubs themselves,
By establishing a special professional committee that reviewed the issue and offered suggestions for strengthening the relationship and benefiting it.
– Establishment of the Leo Club under the auspices of the Pat Hav Club and the French Speaking Club.

In conclusion
As a Lions member, Marcel feels that membership in the organization fulfilled his inner need for help
needy and assistance to the community. In his international activities, he was exposed to international power and beauty
of the Lions organization.
