Commissioner of the Lions between the years 2015-2016

Marvan Zibek was born in Nazareth in 1956. Only son of parents who are educators. He studied civil and geodetic engineering at the Technion, and land valuations, and currently manages a company for certified surveyors. Married to Pathan, the couple has three children with academic degrees and 4 grandchildren.
In the early 1980s, Marwan joined the Nazareth Lions club together with his wife – when the club was founded.
Positions in the club:
Chairman of committees: members, environment, youth exchange, secretary and president.
Positions in the Commission:
Chairman of the area and establishment of the Beit Jan club, chairman of the youth exchange committee, cabinet member, head of the district.
Activity as commissioner:
At the World Conference in Hawaii, Marvan Zibek was appointed Commissioner of Lions Israel for 2015-2016.
Community activity in the year of the commission:
With the aim of bringing peace to the world and a rapprochement between religions, a youth seminar from abroad was held with the support of the European Forum with the participation of Israeli youth (Arab and Jewish). The seminar was held for 4 days at Beit Barel in Kfar Saba.
As part of a youth exchange, about 100 boys from Israel went to camps abroad. And 22 boys were hosted in Israel.
On Hanukkah, Rosh Hashanah, members of the Nazareth Leo handed out gifts to sick children at a hospital in Linson.
Taking sick boys out for a fun day trip in the north.
Hiring a public relations company for the purpose of advertising the Lions and joining new members.
Drawing competition for the elderly.
At the annual conference held in Rosh Ha’Ain, the following decisions were made:
The district commissioner will establish a permanent team headed by him, together with the auditor of the commission, the legal advisor to the commission and other members as needed. The role of the team will be to act to implement the decisions of the annual conferences, in descending order of years. The commissioner will report at the commission’s meetings on the team’s recommendations.
Every year, the commission will reserve a budget in the annual budget to support the holding of a district leadership seminar.
The conference recommends raising the contribution of Israel Lions members to LCIF to $18. In addition – any member who wishes to raise his contribution to LCIF to $20, will receive a CONTRIBUTING MEMBER recognition certificate.
At the people of the year ceremony, they received the “Excellence Award”:
– The late Suzy Devoskin – Strengthening sports activities among women.
– Avichai Sheli – volunteering in the community and activity for those with special needs.
– Prof. Hussam Haik – a breakthrough in the field of health – the development of unique technological diagnostic tools for the detection of chronic diseases, including cancer.
– Ariel Landberg – “Bells” organization.
– Sivan Almaz – “First Hug” association.
In conclusion of his commission year, Marvan Zivak emphasizes that in his meetings with the members of the Lions in Israel, he did his best for the organization, with the aim of establishing a friendly relationship. Participated in most club and organization events. This year was a year of activity, pleasure and satisfaction for him.
After finishing his position as commissioner, Marvan Zibek returned to his club, Nazareth, for regular activities. He is currently a member of the national committee for youth exchanges.
