Moshe Herzog
Israel Lions Commissioner between the years 77-78
Moshe Herzog was born in Poland several years before World War II. When he was one year old, he immigrated to Tel Aviv with his parents, and that’s how they were saved from the Holocaust. Moshe studied law in Jerusalem at the Ratisbon Monastery, built by Jewish converts, and studied literature as a free listener at the Terra Santa Monastery with Leah Goldberg. In 1957 he married Rachel, who in 1997 was the first commissioner of Lions Israel. Together they are parents of three children and grandparents of 7 grandchildren. Rachel and Moshe Herzog jointly run a law firm in Petach Tikva, specializing mainly in real estate and urban planning.
The issue of volunteering is close to Moshe Herzog’s heart. At the age of 16, he volunteered to help the evacuees of the southern neighborhoods of Tel Aviv, and after the establishment of the state he volunteered to help the residents of Beer Yaakov crossings and Camp Israel (today the Aerospace Industry).
Moshe came to Israel Lions through his friend, Judge Korat, who was a member of the Tel Aviv club. Judge Korat suggested to Moshe Herzog (in 1968) to establish a club in Petah Tikva.
Moshe responded to the call, and together with other friends founded the Petah Tikva Hav club, and he was also the club’s president for its first three years.
Activities as president:
The participation of the women of the club, even before they were accepted as members of the Lions, in the ongoing activities of the club.
Transporting soldiers on Fridays, from the tramp to their home.
Establishment of a daycare center for children from Russian homes.
At the end of three years of activity as the president of the club, Moshe Herzog began working in the Israel Lions Commission as chairman of national committees: chairman of the culture committee (preparation of a list of volunteer lecturers for the clubs), chairman of the liaison committee between the clubs, etc. In 1974 he was elected to the Mishna and in 1977 in World in New Orleans, he was elected Lions Israel Commissioner. The number of Lions members in Israel shrunk from 300 members to 180 people.

Attempts to restore clubs: Nahariya, Nazareth Elite, Rishon Lezion, Bat-Yam, Beer Sheva, Savion – which were closed.
Establishment of a cabinet that meets regularly once a week. In the cabinet there were: 3 changes, a secretary, a treasurer and a commissioner.
Establishing contact with the Knesset, combining observers from the Lions in the work of the Knesset.
Activity as a former commissioner:
Establishment of clubs: Kiryat Ono, Petah-Tikva Hav, Petah-Tikva Abuka, Petah-Tikva Kafir, Petah-Tikva Shalom, Petah-Tikva Lavi, Bat Yam.
The establishment of two academic colleges for conciliation and mediation: one under the auspices of Shaari Mishpat in Hod Hasharon and the other in Beer-Sheva under the auspices of Beer-Sheva University.
Establishing a study system for non-lawyers and training them as legal advocates, so that they can help the new immigrants in the small claims courts.
Strengthening the personal relationship with the international presidents and friends from around the Lionist world.
Activity in the Executive Committee of the National Council for Volunteering.
Facilitating the role exchange ceremonies between club presidents and commissioners (passing the mace and trophy) and composing the texts for that purpose.
Participation in the world conferences and the European Forum, until two years ago.
Legal advisor of the Israel Lions Association.
Establishment of the Rachlevsky Fund to provide scholarships to students.
During all the last years, Moshe Herzog has been donating as much as he can for Lions Israel,
