Marital status: married + three and grandmother of six grandchildren

Doctorate on the subject: “Trilogy of the phenomenon of leadership in the mentally disabled population: skills, leadership style and the interrelationship between leaders and the led”.

Lecturer for special education.

Coordinator of the “Strengths” program – academic enrichment for people with intellectual disabilities, which operates as part of the master’s degree specialization for intellectual disabilities, at the Bar Ilan University School of Education, and the coordinator of the integrated university operating as part of the Trump Institute at Beit Izzy Shapira.

She joined the Ramat-Gan Lions Club in 2010, due to an acquaintance with the club members who adopted the special education school she ran for 16 years.

Activities in the club, headed the committees: welfare committee, poster of peace, fundraiser event, club for children in a distressed area and participated as an active member in most of the committees in the club. In 2014 she served as the president of the club.

In 2016, she joined the Commission – and worked in the following areas:

Member and secretary of the Commissary Music Committee

Chairman of the Commission’s People of the Year and Masterpiece Committee

Chairman in collaboration with Ofra Amitai in the Commission Peace Poster Committee.

Participated in leadership seminars in Sofia and Birmingham.

She participated in all the commissioner’s evenings and club events.

In 2019 – at the World Conference in Las Vegas, she was certified as a Lions Israel Commissioner.

Her activities as a commissioner:

As a result of getting to know and being involved in the activities of the Lions clubs, Shoshana came to the decision that the clubs and the commission should be brought together. During the year, she joined the social activities of the clubs, which led to getting to know and understanding the members of the clubs.

In this spirit, actions were taken during the year to increase contact with Lions members in Israel through:

Regular participation in the deliberations of the commission committees and participation in setting the agenda and activities.
A commission formation day was held where the emphasis was on the issue of sustainability.
The peace poster was held in Ramat Gan on the topic: “Kindness is important for peace”
A cleanup day event in the Gaza Envelope, held during the tension period.
About 30 people joined the Europe Forum meeting in Macedonia.
About 30 Racholski scholarships were distributed according to the socio-economic status and excellence in the life sciences.
Music scholarships were awarded to outstanding children at the Ofakim Conservatory.
My commission weekend took place at the “Dan Panorama” hotel in Haifa.
Participation in an activity for girls in need who are studying in a mentoring course at Tel Aviv University.
New Member Day: The importance of the connection with the International Lions, the meaning of volunteering among the Lions members, and the donation to the L.C.I.F. The number of donating clubs increased to 80%.
During her time, an application was submitted for a grant from LCIF for the purchase of a stroke detection device at the Hospital in Nazareth
Three clubs were recruited and contributed for the development of a unique playroom at Dana Children’s Hospital.
Decisions of the 49th Conference:

Participation in travel expenses, in exchange for receipts, for the second time in the same club, when the reason is justified, such as an exchange of presidents, the peace poster ceremony, the person of the year ceremony.
Only a club whose members have all contributed to the LCIF fund in the last two years, and have no debts to Lions International and the Israel Commission, may submit a grant application to LCIF.
At the Person of the Year and Men of Excellence ceremony, the following men of excellence were chosen:

1. Former Minister and MK Mr. David Levy
2. Mr. Rafi Falah – IDF wounded, who heads the blind delegation of the IDF Disabled Organization.

After finishing her position as a commissioner, Shoshana continued her activity in the commission as the chairman of the G.L.T committee (leadership), and a member of the committees: sustainability, music scholarships, hosting youth abroad, and the person of the year committee.

She also continued her activities at the Ramat Gan Lions Club.

Dr. Shoshana Nissim sums up the year in her words: “During the year I had the privilege of getting to know my Lions Israel members closely, participating in personal, club and national events. Thank you for a year of sharing.”
